An Apple A Day – Day 5

The weekend consisted of spending most of my time working on my car. But I did find some time to work on getting access set back up for all of my apps, Touch ID set up and tried my hand at some scripting on the IPad. Let’s delve a little deeper.

App Access

I am still working on getting access set back up for every app. Depending on how engrained (9 years) you are in Android is how long it will take you to get all your passwords put into the keychain. Logging onto every app manually when you haven’t entered passwords in years is a little bit of an annoyance, but you’d have to do this no matter what you moved to. It takes some time but worth the effort.

Touch ID

Again, my wife seeing as how she knows all there is to know about Apple mentioned setting up Touch ID for your spouse or a specific person of your choosing on your IPad and/or phone. You can add several fingerprints on your device other than your own. This in the future could help avert a crisis if something were to happen to you. We both have access to each other’s devices through Touch ID. I recommend the TouchID because you don’t get the same integration or experience with just sharing your password with your significant other, for example, some apps are secured using the TouchID, that’s not an option for a password, so it gives you a free layer of security. It gave me the peace of mind that in the event of an emergency she can get access to any information I have on my Apple devices just from her touch.

*Note: Some may have an issue giving access to others ad this is o.k. This is a personal preference.

Scripting

I love me some Powershell! I tried out scripting on the Parallels access, and it was nice to feel native but do know that you’re not limited by the OS. No problems of note, but once again I was on the same LAN as the destination machine.
